He served in the Scotts Guards for 8 and a half years before emigrating to Australia and serv ing in the Australian Army. He was invalided out on 20/4/1917 and died of TB on 24/12/1919 i n Perth, Western Australia

Married at the Parish Church, Lancaster two months before birth of children (twins) Lily an d Violet. Witnesses at the marriage being Alexander Brown and Ann Kitching.

He supplied the horses for the Lancaster fire Brigade. He was the local cabby who's stables w ere in King Street near Horse Shoe Corner and opposite the back entrance to the Kings Arms Ya rd. At the time of the 1891 census Alfred was at the Kings Arms with Francis and 'cousin' George . By the 1901 census he was at Abbeystead, Over Wyresdale and working as a coachman but ther e was no mention of the twins lily and violet.

From register of the parish church of Kendal "William DUCKSBURY, Batchelor of the Parish of P enwortham in the County of Lancaster and Sarah Atkinson DOCKER, of this Parish, were marrie d by Licence 2nd August 1813"

Both parties signed the register and there were 3 witnesses. The 1st is illegible, 2nd "Tho s Jackson" and 3rd "Joseph Garnett", the last one is maybe a church official as he is a commo n witness in the register.
