Editor's Note: Christopher changed the spelling of his name from Kristopher Dalseng to the one recorded when he came to America.
Left Liland, Norway 5/13/1866 and three weeks later arrived in Boda, Norway. After an eleven weeks sea voyage on the sailing ship Norden, they arrived in Canada in September 1866.
Over a two week period they traveled, by various means to Farmington, MN, and settled in a community called Christiania Settlement about twelve miles southwest of Farmington, MN. The fall harvest was in progress when they arrived. No record of Christofor's work activity is available.
In June of 1868, the Carl Blom and Christofor Dahlsing families decided to move to the unsettled prairie and "homestead" a farm. The families owned, in partnership, a team of oxen and a covered wagon .With a few personal possessions, they began a three week journey. A number of misfortunes befell them along the way, but they arrived in Fairbault County. The Dahlsings homesteaded a quarter section in Rome County, MN. Christofor "broke up" five acres of land that fall. The first house was a sod cellar.
