John was probably a partner with his brother Ridehalgh in the Admiral Lord Rodney Inn in Waterside circa 1791 -1815.
Identified in 1793 as a Publican (keeper of a public house) (pub).
Identified in 1794 as a Victualler (keeper of a restaurant/tavern).
Identified in 1799 as a weaver.
Identified in 1801 as a manufacturer/weaver.
Identified in 1802-1803 as a weaver.

At his death he willed three dwelling houses including his residence jointly to his wife and brother, Ridehalgh.
